⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've been a fan of this show from the beginning but I'll admit I was nervous going into this season. It's not easy to make a long-running show that stays consistently good from start to finish. A part of me was worried that maybe the show had already peaked and was only going downhill from here. Thankfully I was proved wrong and I couldn't be happier. This season far exceeded my expectations and might just be my new favorite season.
I was surprised by how dark this season got at times. They didn't shy away from the horror side this season. It could even be a little gory at times. This is mostly due to the new antagonist of the show Vecna who is an amazing addition to the show. Similar to "Freddy Krueger" from the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise, Vecna attacks through the victim's minds giving them nightmarish visions before brutally killing them in an unexpectantly gory way. Most villains in horror seem to lose their fear factor the more you learn about them but without going into spoilers I can say that the more we learn about Vecna the more threatening and effective a character he becomes.
Aside from Vecna however there are several other new characters I enjoyed. Eddie seems to be a favorite amongst fans and I can see why. Joseph Quinn did a great job portraying the character. Also worth mentioning is Argyle played by Eduardo Franco and Jason Carver played by Mason Dye. All these characters felt believable making the town of Hawkins feel more real despite the portals to another dimension opening all over.
If I had to pick 1 episode as my favorite it would be episode 4. It's about time we got an episode that focuses on Max! I can't wait to see what happens next season, although it will be sad to see my favorite show end.
