Saltburn

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Saltburn is as gripping as it is traumatising.

There is nothing quite like it. If you have any interest in watching, I'd recommend going in completely blind. Just be prepared to see some things that are well... NSFW to say the least.

I'm unsure of what to think of our main character Oliver Quick. Played brilliantly by Barry Keoghan. Yet, I find myself unable to root for him on account of him being an absolute freak! Throughout the film, his motives are made deliberately unclear, we see he is clearly obsessed with Felix played by Jacob Elordi but it's not until the final act that the truth is revealed. The film doesn't tell us what to think of his actions, instead it trusts us to come to our own conclusions.

The entire cast is fantastic. I would've loved to have seen more of the Catton family, particularly Sir James and Elspeth Catton played by Richard E. Grant and Rosamund Pike. It would've been nice to have learned a bit more about them.

It's a film I'd love to watch again knowing what I know now, but perhaps more time is needed before I put myself through it all again.
